IMPACT OF INTELLIGENT TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IN THE MAKING OF SMART CITIES : A CASE OF PATNA
Abstract
This paper explores the impact of the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) in Patna, focusing on its role in enhancing urban traffic management, safety, and governance. Leveraging technologies like Adaptive Traffic Control Systems (ATCS), Red-Light Violation Detection (RLVD), Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), and Speed Violation Detection (SVD), ITMS addresses challenges in traffic enforcement and intersection optimization. The study evaluates its effectiveness in reducing traffic violations, congestion, and pollution while improving road safety and administrative efficiency. By analyzing implementation, outcomes, and governance frameworks, the paper highlights ITMS as a replicable, technology-driven solution for sustainable urban development in smart cities.
