Abstract

Electrochemical Discharge Machining process applied for machining of both electrically conducting and non-conducting materials. It became crucial to measure the material removal rate while processing of advanced materials. This paper deals with comparison of optimization of MRR by different techniques like Taguchi method, RSM, PSO and ANN during μ-profile generation on glass material using μ-ECDM process. The experiments were conducted using the combinations of three input parameters such as voltage, electrolyte concentration and pulse frequency based on different experimental design. Increase in voltage and electrolyte concentration results in MRR increase, but with increase in pulse frequency MRR decreases. Optimal value of MRR along with the parametric combinations using all four techniques has been derived and compared.
