SELECTED MALAYSIAN RARE FRUITS HAVE POTENTIAL MEDICAL VALUE AS ALTERNATIVE MEDICAL TO SUPPORT DIABETES PATIENT

In Malaysia have more than 370 species of fruits that have been found and only sixteen types of fruits are classified as primary fruits. The remainder are classified as a rare fruit or underutilized fruits because it is difficult to be discover and mainly grown wild in places such as village, forest, hamlet etc. This research focused on the type of Malaysian rare fruits that have medical value to treat diabetes. This research objective is to identify the type of rare fruits that have potential nutrient to treat diabetes. The questionnaire was developed based on medical value and type of rare fruit. As a result, the rare fruits that been identified to have medical value can be used to treat diabetes in Malaysia while ensure the continuity of the Malaysia’s rare fruit. In addition, people can use the information on these rare fruits as a source of alternative medicine to cure and treat diabetes.
