THE STUDY OF DISCHARGE CAPACITY OF VERTICAL DRAIN IN BANGKOK CLAY
Keywords:
Prefabricated Vertical Drain, the discharge capacity, Bangkok clayAbstract
A simulation scheme for the smear effect and well resistance of Prefabricated Vertical Drains (PVDs) improved ground was proposed in order to investigate the discharge capacity of vertical drain (qw). Incorporating with the proposed simulation scheme a finite element analysis was performed on a unit cell PVD improved ground at Second Bangkok International Airport. The program SIGMA/W was mainly performed for the present study and the consolidation behavior of soft clay layer was modeled by critical state soil model. According to the analysis results of parametric studies showed that the settlement of filed monitoring is close to the finite element when analyzed with the effects of smear and well resistance with qw in the rage of 284 to 474 m3/year. Form the back analysis of excess pore water pressure, it found that the qw in the layers of weather crust and soft clay are in the range of 284 to 474 m3/year and 37 to 46 m3/year, respectively.
