MAINTENANCE WORKFORCE PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT IN A FUZZY ENVIRONMENT WI T H MULTI P LI CIT Y O F CRI T ERI A I N MANUFACTURING SYSTEM
Abstract
The maintenance industrial sector has shown an increasing interest in the performance of the workforce in manufacturing systems. In this study, the performance enhancement of a maintenance workforce with a multiplicity of criteria in the manufacturing system undermulti-objective decision making in a fuzzy environment is considered. The modelformulation of the problem as a weighted additive fuzzy goal programming is considered. The applicability and efficacy of the proposed model was demonstrated using acombination of literature and simulated datasets and solutions were generated with agenetic algorithm (GA). The performance of the GA was analysed by comparing its results with those of a harmony search algorithm and differential evolution. The performance ofthe GA was satisfactory and we concluded that the proposed model had the capacity to generate a Pareto solution for the case study. The novelty of this study is the presentation of a distinctly new approach that takes care of workers’ reliability, defective product issues, and the time-sharing between production and maintenance departments.
