Abstract

or bridges. A subspace method for identifying the structural dynamic parameters in the state-spaceform of a building’s model is examined in this paper. Random input forces are applied to the structure, and accelerations from all floors are used to identify the structure. Then, the mass, damping, andstiffness matrices are extracted from the identified system by reconstructing from the system’s modalparameters. Results from numerical simulations show that the method can identify the structural damagesuccessfully.
