A DEVELOPMENT OF A COST CONTROL SYSTEM FOR SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED CONTRACTORS

Construction business comprises a number of small and medium-sized contractors which form themajor part of the industry. The existing research on the new ICT development is creating more andmore sophisticated and complex systems which may not be applicable to the construction industry.With regard to general limitations as design criteria, this research used a collaborative approach todevelop a cost control system for small and medium-sized contractors. Five suitable contractors wereselected to participate in this research study. The new efficient cost control system can be developedusing available ICT tools which are familiar and easy-to-learn. A collaborative approach can ensurethe diffusion of technology to these companies.
