Peer Review Process
Suranaree Journal of Science and Technology (SJST) publishes research articles, review articles and Short communications. All types of articles (research papers, review papers, short communications) are required to go through our following rigorous peer review process.
1. Screening
The editorial team considers the content of the submitted article to ensure that it is within the scope of SJST. The format, writing and language are also evaluated in the screening phase. Last, but not least, plagiarism is checked via Turnitin. This screening process takes 1–2 weeks.
The submitted article can be rejected during the screening process due to one of the following reasons.
1.1 The content of the article does not lie within the scope of SJST, or
1.2 There is over 30% of content similarity in the plagiarism checking process, or
1.3 There is no significant academic contribution, or
1.4 There is no real practical usage from the study or research, or
1.5 The article is illegible due to poor format, presentation or the use of language.
2. Peer reviewing
The editorial team selects 2 reviewers who are considered experts in the area of the submitted article. The selected reviewers must also be from a different institution from the authors and from each other. The SJST uses single-blind review and the peer review process takes between 2-3 months.
3. Notification of peer review results
The final evaluation decision is made by the editorial team. There are 5 possible outcomes that can be notified to the authors. They are:
3.1 Accepted as is
3.2 Accepted with minor revision
3.3 Revised extensively & reconsidered by Associate Editor
3.4 Revised extensively & reconsidered by original referee
3.5 Reject
4. Revision
The authors must make changes and improvements to the article in accordance with the reviewers’ comments. The editorial team will then evaluate the revised article, unless the reviewers request to do so themselves. The language check and editing service may be provided if absolutely necessary. The process of the revision step until the final result announcement takes between 6 weeks.
